it's true

running really is mental. i ran 17 something miles on saturday. it's taken me 3 days to talk about it because it was killer. my body was pretty much done by mile 14 and ready to shut down by mile 15.5. i was even pretty chatty with a guy that runs the same pace throughout. but once we got to mile 16 i didn't want to use any energy that wasn't going towards putting one foot in front of the other in a running-type fashion. i really hit a wall. there's a reason it's called a "wall". it feels like you have to climb over it using only your brute strength. and then keep running.

in a related note in my search for a picture of someone climbing over a wall (which is surprisingly difficult) i came across a discussion about illegal immigrants that reminded me how stupid people are and a website for a women's only boot camp that would make me look super sexy if only i had $100 plus travel expenses to and from CA. we did just get our tax return...

playing ketchup

this is everything i didn't record for the last month+. not too shabby. i had my 10k "race" this morning during my class and kicked my own butt. i pushed too hard, too soon and ended up having to walk a couple times (i loathe when i have to walk during a run). BUT i shaved off 6:55 from my last 10k race. nice :). all i really wanted to do was run faster than my half-marathon pace which i did by 37 seconds/mile. i'm going to reward myself with a nap.

well, this is embarrassing. a whole month went by without stopping in.

my hamstring is all (mostly) better. the only time it bugs me is when i sit on my butt in front of the computer. i think the universe is trying to tell me something, but what?? [which reminds me of Finding Nemo, as so many things do these days. "Look, you're really cute, but I can't understand what you're saying. Say the first thing again."] i'm (mostly) back to the level i was before the strain. i have a 10K "race" in my class. i ran 15 miles this last saturday which officially makes me a rockstar. (officially according to me in case you were wondering). and my marathon is in 9 weeks! i'm super excited!!
